Since 2008, the ArcelorMittal Luxembourg Foundation has been a loyal sponsor of La Main Tendue, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people reach out to others. Based in Pétange, the association aims to combat all types of violence: physical, sexual, and psychological. It places educators with families for support, provides psychological support for adolescents, and supports the integration of young adults.

In 2023, the association launched the BabbelGrupp, a discussion circle project for adults, aimed at providing a space for discussion for those in difficulty, in order to find concrete solutions and improve their social and mental well-being. This project aims to strengthen social ties and support vulnerable people, particularly in the post-Covid period. These meetings are led by a specialized educator, a clinical psychologist, and volunteers, and take place four times per week, in several languages.

This space can accommodate up to 15 participants per session, with smaller groups if the topics require it. Discussions are co-constructed with participants, who can suggest future topics to be addressed. External professionals may intervene to raise awareness among participants about social issues, such as housing assistance or education.

The main objective is to break isolation, encourage discussion, and redirect individuals to specialized services if necessary.

Themes can cover the following topics: domestic violence, addictions, risky behaviors, child well-being, and school procedures. This project aims to create a supportive listening environment, support participants in their efforts, and promote better mental and social health for all.
