In 2025, the ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg Art Award (AFLAA) was established by ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg to promote urban art and industrial heritage. The award aims to give street artists from the Greater Region the opportunity to transform industrial spaces owned by ArcelorMittal into platforms for artistic expression.

For this inaugural edition, artists were invited to explore the theme “The Art of Looking Through – Windows to Other Worlds”, encouraging them to envision each wall as a window opening onto another reality, whether imaginary, poetic, thought-provoking or deeply personal. Each selected artist was required to create two adjacent murals in dialogue with the raw industrial character of the sites provided.

A call for applications was launched at the end of June 2025 and attracted a wide range of talented candidates. The twelve artists selected by the jury produced their artworks between 28 July and 30 September 2025, benefiting from production support to cover the material costs of their creations.

The selection of the winners was determined through a public vote as well as a vote by ArcelorMittal employees, with more than 1,800 votes cast in total. The award winners were:

  • Samuel Levy – Jury Prize
  • Sebastian Ynaraja Rodriguez – Public Prize
  • Marco Weiten – Employees’ Prize
  • Julien Nuubla – Jury’s Special Recognition Award

The professional jury was composed of:

  • Raphael Gindt, artist and Chair of the Jury
  • Alain Welter, artist
  • Pierre Jacobs, member of the Board of Directors of ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg
  • Nathalie Becker, Director of Galerie Go Art (Esch-sur-Alzette)
