As every year in October, the annual ‘Minigrants’ ceremony organised by the ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg was held at ArcelorMittal Headquarters in Luxembourg City.

The Minigrants program is an initiative aimed at supporting projects carried out by associations or foundations active in Luxembourg or the Greater Region, in which ArcelorMittal employees in Luxembourg are involved as volunteers.

Each year in October, ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg provides financial support to several projects that align with its strategy by distributing a total of €30,000 among the initiatives approved by a jury and selected by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. To be selected, a project must address at least one of the following areas: social, education, culture and heritage, or environment.
This year, 16 applications were submitted to the Foundation.
The eleven selected projects presented their actions:

  • Escorte Motard Sécurité Lorraine : organization of activities for people with disabilities, including free and supervised motorcycle rides.
  • La Plume de l’Argilète : creation of a community bookstore (collection of books for sorting, recycling, and resale as second-hand), with the profits used to produce books in braille.
  • Une Main pour Un Espoir : installation of a multisensory relaxation room for children cared for by child protection services.
  • Il était une fois…asbl : creation of a children’s book to help them understand money, its use, and its role in society.
  • Parcours Rose du Pays Haut : participation in an “Octobre Rose” race, with proceeds donated to organizations fighting breast cancer or to finance adapted medical equipment.
  • Staddauwen Lëtzebuerg : expansion and improvement of a pigeon loft within the ArcelorMittal Differdange industrial facilities.
  • Union Sportive Basket Boulange Fontoy: a project promoting social inclusion and motor and social development in young children through a basketball programme
  • Lubey en Fête: organisation of cultural, sporting and festive events in a small village in Lorraine to foster social ties between elderly residents.
  • Dessine-moi une Gazelle: an all-female project to participate in the ‘Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles 2026’ in Morocco, with three main focuses: women’s empowerment, respect for the environment and solidarity.
  • Ecole du Parc: contribution to the financing of a trip to the Jura for two classes of 10-year-old children living in disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
  • Entente Sportive Longuyonnaise: development of tennis-related activities for children and adults with disabilities.

Mr Michel Wurth, President of the ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg, said: “The initiatives presented year after year as part of the Minigrants programme are always wonderful, generous and altruistic projects. We want to support this momentum among ArcelorMittal employees who are committed to serving others. This approach is in line with the philanthropic spirit of our Foundation, which works within the Greater Region to facilitate the development of social, cultural, educational and environmental projects.”
